We begin the day with drumming and “working the Spirit” with Sacramento’s own Afro-Cuban drum and dance group, Ebo Okokan. Here is an excerpt of what you will be seeing:

Author and lecturer Luisah Teish (“Jambalaya”, “Carnival of the Spirit”) will lead you through tradition superstitious beliefs you hold…or are they?

Irete Lazo, author of “The Accidental Santeria” will speak about her experiences that brought about her writings and shares her traditions.

Filmmaker and author, Susheel Bibbs (“Meet Mary Pleasant”), gives insight to California’s first civil rights advocate and shows her PBS film, “Meet Mary Pleasant”.

Sweet and Savory refreshments will be served by Eight American Bistro.
