Hoodoo Products and Uses | Red Brick Dust

Red Brick Dust, also known throughout the South as “Reddening”, “Red Dust” or “Brick Dust”, is an mineral element used in Hoodoo and Conjure. Made from fired red ochre bricks that have been pulverized, red brick dust is used in both protection and attraction spells. It is bright red-orange in color and can color many surfaces it comes in contact with. The uses of it throughout the South go back to ancestor belief systems of using red ochre clay for spiritual rites and protection of self and posessions. This belief came over to the United States with the African diaspora slave trade time, and since red ochre clay is not abundant in all parts of the United States, an alternative was to pulverize red clay bricks into a fine dusting powder.

Southern traditional hoodoo and conjure beliefs alleged that to protect one’s home and property from unwanted visitors, a line of Red Brick Dust must be spread acroos a doorstep or porch. It is also an ingredient of Better Business Scrub, a blend of red brick dust and other ingredients reputed to bring in customers to a business for a constant stream of money.

Red brick dust was in the jar that Kate Hudson poured across the doorway while being chased by Gena Rowlands in the movie, “The Skeleton Key”

Lucky 13 Clover Spiritual Supply offers a 2 ounce serving of Red Brick Dust in a packet with suggested uses included. This packet is $2.00 (plus $2.00 S & H) and can be used to keep your enemies from coming near you, to protect your home and to bring in business to a slow store or business.

Kitchen Hoodoo | Using Allspice in Hoodoo, Conjure and Candle Spells

Allspice, also known as Jamaica Pepper, are the dried berries of the Pimenta dioica plant found in the Antilles and Central America. It has a sweet, smoky scent and is reminiscent of the combination of cinnamon, cloves and nutmeg together. The English dubbed this spice “Allspice” as they were reminded of these three flavors as well.

Allspice is used as a ingredient in spiritual products for Good Luck, Fast Luck and Money. You can anoint a red candle for “luck in a hurry” with Fast Luck Oil, a yellow candle for success with Crowning Glory or Crown of Success Oil or a green candle anointed with Money Drawing Oil and roll these candles (if free standing) in ground Allspice or you can place a good pinch of it in the top of your glass vigil candles for extra power to your candle spell.

It is alleged that Allspice brings good luck to business owners and gamblers as well. Allspice is a key ingredient in mojo bags created to carry for money luck.

One way to bring customers to your place of business is to create a floor wash daily with a spoonful each of ground allspice, ground cinnamon and sugar with a cup of Epsom Salts in warm water and mop your floors from the front door to the back, then taking the rest of the water and tossing it out the front door onto the walkway or sidewalk to draw in customers.
