First let me say thank you for all the information you are giving here. I have learned so much! I am still confused on one thing. I read in the blog here that you suggest pink candles for love spells, but on many other places on the Internet, it says red candles for love candle spells? This is even in some websites that sells love candle kits already made up for you. What gives? You say one way, they say another. I am confused. Please help!

Thank you for the compliments on the site – I try my best! Let me try to explain about candles and their color meaning in love candle spell work.

If you remember in the Colonial days, candles were made from beef and mutton tallow, the fat scraped off the hide of cattle and sheep that was melted, had cotton string wicks dipped into it, and were the only source of light to early Americans (and others all over the world). This went on until the discovery of gas lamps and eventually, electricity. Tallow candles were one color – a creamy off-white. Anyone using candles for magical work usually oiled the candle and rolled them in ground herbs for the magical boost to the candle. There were no colored wax candles like we have today.

In the history of colored candles for magical work, red was the oldest color associated with love. I remember when I was in my teens I had liked this boy. I got ahold of a love candle spell book and obtained the items required, including a red candle. I did my spell under the right Moon and WHAMMY – it worked! Only in the wrong way! He wanted me to take a Polaroid photo of myself naked and send it to him! This was in 1975, and that totally freaked me out! I got rid of him in a hurry! It scared me so that I did not do spell work for a very long time.

Now, see that I used a red candle and what kind of attention I got from my target – sexual. I didn’t understand this for a long time until I started doing candle work like I do now. The energy of a red candle is INTENSE – which translates in our emotions as PHYSICAL DESIRE.

So, thinking about Fast Luck Candle Spells, which use red candles, if the energy is intense and also resonates physical desire, how does this connect with Fast Luck? In my experiences, anything worth having is something you DESIRE - new car, home, great job, money in the bank , right? The wanting of am item is desire, like a lover or that one thing that will make that emotion satisfied.

Red candles work when you do not want an emotional connection. They are your “wham bam, thank you, M’am” – type candles. They are all about the physical. Now, if this is the kind of relationship you want, because of distance apart, work demands, family, etc. – this is the right candle to use.

Pink candles mix the passion of the red candle with the white of purity and peace. The energy of this candle is affectionate, playful, cuddly. Why do you think pink is probably the most favorite color of most little girls? Because it is non-threatening (passion and desire can be scary) and it is cuddly, like little girls. If getting into his (or her) mind, finding out their dreams, getting to know them as a person is something you want out of your relationship, then use pink candles. What do we do with the petition papers after the candle spell is done or the candle is out? I have a few petitions just sitting in a little tin waiting for me to do something with them.

Name papers (the ones you place a persons name on) and petition papers ( the ones that you write an incantation or prayer) are to be dispersed in a way to it “goes out to the Heavens or the Universe” to do its’ job. For myself, there are a few ways that I take care of petition papers.

For positive candles spells (such as love, money,success): I take the papers and I either burn it in the candle glass, and toss in a pinch of sage or copal to sweeten the smoke, and allow the petition prayers to drift up to Heaven for the Angels to hear or I burn it in my weekly Sunday morning ritual in my back yard.

I take all the prayer requests and notes left on the All Saints Altar and place them in an aluminum dish to burn with incense. I save the photos if they are on original Kodak-type paper and all the Internet print off photos I burn with the petitions.

For love drawing and money or success drawing papers: Some have the idea to wrap the paper around the spent wax (if using a free-standing candle) wiht a pinch of SUGAR or a LODE STONE fixed with MAGNETIC SAND, and bury it under their steps (if raised wooden steps to a porch) or near the walkway where they enter their home (like a planter by the walkway leading to their door in an apartment complex) or in a potted plant on their doorstep or landing. The idea is that it will be a constant money or love “magnet” drawing to the home. Some fold the paper into a packet (sometimes around a drawing spice such as CINNAMON), and wear in a locket or place in a mojo bag or tied in a white kerchief and worn on the body or left in the bedroom (for love drawing).

For candles for an enemy or someone that you want to commit an act of revenge: You can take the petition paper and burn it with SULPHUR (either powder that was obtained from the pharmacy) or CRUSHED MATCHSTICK TIPS (easy and cheap to do). If using SULPHUR, make sure to burn it outside, as the fumes are toxic and cannot be burned indoors. After all has been burnt, you can either add it to a BLACK PEPPER, RED PEPPER and SALT mixture and toss it on their walkway or doorstep, or near the drivers side of the car, so they step in it and carry it into their car.

Readers Question | Regarding Recent Blog Post on Black/Green Candle

You mentioned that the Reversible Black/Red candles should have the Black part on top and the red on the bottom so that the negativity is burned away first. However, you did not make the same distinction with Green/Black candles, which shows the Green on top…why is that? Wouldn’t it be best to remove the negativity first via the Black so that the Abundance (Green) could come in full force?

Good question. Yes, I have had an astounding amount of successes with the “Black on Red” Reversible Candle as opposed to the “Red on Black” kind found in the majority of botanicas and candles shops. Here are a few photos to show what I mean by “Black on Red” and “Red on Black”

Now, Reversible candles come in glass like above, and free standing like this:

This candle is intended to cut off the tip at the tip of the red wax, carve out the wick from the bottom of the black wax as part of the ritual of reversing. The candle is them cleaned with lemon juice or Florida Water, then oiled with Reversible Anointing Oil and lit.The same thing could be done on and free standing Green and Black Reversible Candle.

I have learned that the Green and Black Reversible Candle in its original intention, is to jinx someones money. This means you burn the green off first, with the intended victim’s name under the candle, then jinx or cross them up financially by burning the black part of the candle. This is the traditional way to use the Green and Black Glass Reversible Candle. The spell I wrote and posted recently,Green and Black Candle Spells for Ranishing Debt is my “twist” on bringing in money (by burning the green first), then banishing the bill (by using said money on bill, which is placed under candle).

My intention (which is a big part of candle burning spells) is INTENTION, and that is to get rid of a bill. You may use this with a creditor or debt collector. This is not intended to send them away to leave you be, but to address the inflow of money to attach specifically to this bill. This is why I do it the last three days of the waxing Moon (meaning getting larger), so that it will bring in that last bit of money magic of working with the Moon so that I can immediately send OUT the payment on the bill. Does this get rid of the bill? No, only by you paying it off, it will get rid of any bills or debts that are overdue.

Dear Susan,

I am sorry to hear that things are not going well with you. I remember that we did indeed do a month of white candles for family blessings of all kinds in April. All your candles burnt clean – meaning there was no negative aspects such as sudden sooting or blackening of the candle glass or exploding candles. So let me try to explain what might have happened.

* NOTE: Something I have ALWAYS emphasized is this: Do not consider candle burning magical spells to be 100% guaranteed effective. If you are hearing something like this – even is you are misconstrued in my writings – you must think about it. A candle service will not EVER bring you what you want 100% of the time. It is the Higher Power that will determine what you can have in this world and how you get it. think of a handicapped person. They may have been born that way or was injured in an accident. This was something that the Maker (God, Jehovah, etc.) determined that this Soul was to experience. Your trials will only do tow things – either will make you stronger, like steel being forged in the fire, or break you, to make you realize a lesson that you need to experience.

* Regarding Employment : You live in California, which has 12% unemployment at the time this is written. Now, without knowing your field, I cannot determine whether or not your talents and/or occupational field is a “dinosaur” or is a dying trade. I also cannot determine if you actively did job search and was proactive in your own employment search. No offense meant, there are some who ask for a candle to be burned for them – they sit on the couch and watch television all day. HUH? I scratch my head thinking, “Watching Judge Judy and Oprah isn’t going to feed them when the cupboard is bare”. So, my question to YOU is – did you investigate going back to school, whether trade, technical or junior college? Did you dress for success everyday and go out and visit at least five places everyday? Did you re-visit those same places a week later? Is your resume in top shape? Are you applying online everywhere you can think of? I recently watched a Dr. Phil show where the wife was at wit’s end because the husband was being “too selective” where he was looking for a job and it had been two years that he had been laid off. The family was broke, depleting their savings and the wife was working two jobs. Dr. Phil basically told him to go wash dishes until something else came along. Bringing in SOME money was better than NO money.

* Regarding your Home : If you cannot afford your home, either refinance it or rent it out and live in an apartment. If you were one of those who took the “deal that was too go to be true”, this is why some many family homes are underwater – they bought a house with NO MONEY DOWN, qualified with some ‘numbers crunching’ (yeah, right) and gambled that they were going to be able to make that ballon payment in two years. Look, 7 years ago, I had my three girls and my guys one son. We made it work in a three bedroom home. We knew that within three years, one by one, they were going to fly the coop – which is what they SHOULD do. We are not able to handle our mortgage despite how the economy is doing.

What I am getting at is this – don’t expect a candle to DO EVERYTHING. A candle is a constant symbol burning to remind you that you trust that God (or Buddha, Allah, etc.) will not FORSAKE you and that you will do everything in your might to make it work. Tough times do not last forever; it is the Universes was to ‘cut the fat’ and teach us to live humbly. A candle will not make people go out and look for YOU – you must go out and GET IT. Think of a bird; no refrigerator, no stove, yest it works all day to get the food it needs. Somehow, it wakes up the next day. Some birds DO die of starvation – not because of lack of looking for it, but lack of food availability.

You must be that bird – constantly searching endlessly for your survival.

So now, what can you do?

* Burn candles on your own. I have always advocated doing your own candles for yourself. You are more intimately connected to the situation then me and you might not express all the details to me in the consultation.

* Re-connect with Spirit. Maybe more time with the Maker in meditation or prayer is needed to ‘get the message through’.

* Do everything you can do to provide for yourself and your family.

* Learn from your experience and resolve not to repeat them. I have has some ‘whammy’ times where I fell, but I always get back up. “If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again, try again.”

I was wondering when turning off a candle. Is there a certain way? Should you blow it out, cover it so it can turn off on its own, or pinch out fire?

This was really a timely and authentic question, but I kept from posting it fir awhile because of the many grammatical and punctuation errors that were originally in the question. I been so busy answering other questions that I didn’t have time to correct the errors!

Two Rules to Follow when Extinguishing Candles from Your Candle Spell

1. When you are completely done or finished with your candle spell and you do not need to work the spell any longer, you may blow your candle out. Do not reuse the candle. Toss in garbage.

2. If you need to extinguish your candle spell (because of leaving the home, for one), use a candle snuffer or wet your fingers with saliva and “pinch it out” (meaning to quickly move thumb and index finger towards wick and using the saliva, snuff the flame). This candle can now be re-lit for your candle magic when you return without any further anointing or dressing of the candle.

Dear Jacqueline,

I am writing to you about how I took you candle spell and added a little more “oomph” to it candle wise, and I got my man to commit to a relationship. I used your pink St. Jude Candle Spell anointed with Come to Me Oil and added a photo of him, a lock of his hair and a Red Candle anointed with Fire of Love Oil.

I wrote in a circle on the back of the picture an incantation that I wanted hime to want only me, placed the lock of hair on top of it, placed the pink St. Jude candle on top of that and the red candle next to it. I started this on the New Moon in April and it took only 8 days before he sent me a letter saying that he wanted me to be there for him when he gets back (he’s away right now).

I never had the confidence to do candle spells on my own and always went to this candle store in town and they would light candles for me but now I am going to continue to keep reading your site.

I have a question, can I ask questions about my candle work like candle colors and types of oils by contacting you?

Thank you for sharing your candle success! I hope that the two of you will be together soon – in the same place!

Your letter brings up a good point, you can change up ANY candle spell to make it more personal or more your “own” and you can work your own candle magic on your own as well. All you have to do is follow the right candle color, follow the Moon cycle (not all do this) and use the proper ingredients. Is there any wrong way to make chocolate chip cookies? No – just some have walnuts, or pecans, or have double chocolate chips, or even M &M’s in it. Does that make them wrong? Nah, enjoy each and every variation on a candle spell as you are eliminating the wrong items and fine tuning to use all the good stuff.

Congratulations on your success. My only comment is to use red candles sparingly as too much red will make it more of a physical thing, which is not totally wrong, but if romance, respect and exclusivity is what you want, use more pink candles.

I burned a free standing candle and there was a ball on top of the wick that looked like a heart, later, it burned off and the wax dripped on one siide of the candle forming a dolphin shape and then a pile of wax as the dolphins tail which was oozing wax until it hardened. The dripping of the wax remained. What does that mean?

I would have to ask you – what do dolphins and hearts mean to you? You do not indicate what the candle was intended for nor what herbs, oils and petition papers you used for it. Being in education, I waited sometime before posting this question, because of the misspelled “you” (spelled as “u”) that our text crazy generation tries to pass off as quality written communication. I hope that I am not being too harsh dear, but to be successful in life, you must use proper English.

Now that has been said, there are a few Psalms to use when doing love spells such as the Honey Jar Spell. Is it required? No, but it couldn’t hurt. After all, you are reading from the Good Book, and when was the last time you sat down and read some of God’s words?

This reader brings up a good question, though. Because of the complexities of relationships, there are many reasons to create a Honey Jar Spell or even burn candles, for that matter. I would suggest to use the book, “Secrets of the Psalms” by Godfrey A. Selig.

Readers Question | Residual Wax on Glass in Candle Spell

I have a question. I was doing a candle spell and there was a considerable amount of wax that was left on the inside glass of the 7-day novena vigil candle. I couldn’t send a photo or I would have but I read somewhere that a build up of wax means that things are not finished with the person or situation. Is this true? I sure hope so because it was a lover come back to me candle spell I was burning.

You were right that you read it in regards to ‘unfinished business’ in regards to a candle burn. It means that the condition between you and your lover is not finished; you will be in touch with him again.

Sometimes when I burn candles for clients, I save the photos I send to them at the end of their candle spell and I just happen to have two that exemplify what you are talking about.

They look like this:

This was a Crown of Success candle spell for a client (name paper petition removed to see glass) and you can tell there is a lot of residual candle wax that did not burn off in the candle. What you cannot see is a swirl of the wax that forms a question mark symbol or sign on the clear part of the glass. There was some questions that came up after the candle burn on the qualifications of the client while she was going through the process of interviews with the job. She eventually was given the position, but had to produce additional documents to support her claim of expertise.

If you still have the candle glass, look for swirls or smudges of smoke and wax for an image or shape that might show an answer. This type of candle divination is an old time way of prophetising the future of the relationship.

Just a quick note, I read on another site if you break up suddenly without provoction then you may have someone read cards and see if there is magic involved. My husband and I broke up suddenly and after some weird things that routinely happened to us (he would become irate on Thursdays and I would be so sad on Thursday and we would be alright come Friday morning)I had someone throw the cards and it came out that his girlfriend was keeping him with magic love and other spells and was putting on us to seperate and binding me. So I’ve been behind in the magic game for some 5 years, and I’m just now fighting back and trying to break through…And it’s been said that nothing worth while was easy.
…I’ve heard that tea made from Star Anise is suppose to bring your lover back…so you may need to bump up your game…candles, bathes, teas, herbs it’s up to you in how much your willing to do. The candles feel you, talk to them throughout the day too. Don’t be afraid of your candles is the first advice I’d give anyone.

First, I am sorry that your husband broke up with you. Any family that is torn apart isn’t a good thing, whether there are children or not. This was a vow that was broken, and vows are something that it cosmically binding. Shame on the woman who is doing this to you. Apparently, either she feels she was ‘stolen’ from or has not enough confidence and self esteem to go out and get her own man, one who is available to boot!

Again, a candle spell is like a chocolate cake recipe; your Grandma might have used mayonnaise instead of eggs and mine might have put in a teaspoon of Nescafe, the general results is the same – it is a chocolate cake. Now, granted that if you are not being successful the first time, you might need to ‘tweak’ the recipe and add this item or exclude or substitute that one, but with dedication and desire for an outcome, you keep working at it.

There are some readers, not only the ones they lay cards, that can tell you if things are true or not. That is research that you will want to do on your own to get a comfortable feeling from the reader. In regards to your statement about ‘talking’ to your candles, I do and isn’t ‘talking’ tothem and reminding them what they are being burnedfor a little like a prayer?

I looked up some ideas about magic with Star Anise in the book by cat yronwode, “Hoodoo Herb and Root Magic” and for Star Anise it is written that it is used for to dream lucky and dream true and also to ward off envy and bring luck. In the book, it appears that Star Anise is to be carried, but since it is a spice that is consumable, you may be right about drinking it in a tea. Now, if you used the term ‘tea’ to mean a spiritual bath (and that word is used as well), your traditions you are taught by your root worker may be something that I have not learned. I would continue with your traditions and what you have been taught until you see their results, then make a decision.
