You mentioned that the Reversible Black/Red candles should have the Black part on top and the red on the bottom so that the negativity is burned away first. However, you did not make the same distinction with Green/Black candles, which shows the Green on top…why is that? Wouldn’t it be best to remove the negativity first via the Black so that the Abundance (Green) could come in full force?

Good question. Yes, I have had an astounding amount of successes with the “Black on Red” Reversible Candle as opposed to the “Red on Black” kind found in the majority of botanicas and candles shops. Here are a few photos to show what I mean by “Black on Red” and “Red on Black”

Now, Reversible candles come in glass like above, and free standing like this:

This candle is intended to cut off the tip at the tip of the red wax, carve out the wick from the bottom of the black wax as part of the ritual of reversing. The candle is them cleaned with lemon juice or Florida Water, then oiled with Reversible Anointing Oil and lit.The same thing could be done on and free standing Green and Black Reversible Candle.

I have learned that the Green and Black Reversible Candle in its original intention, is to jinx someones money. This means you burn the green off first, with the intended victim’s name under the candle, then jinx or cross them up financially by burning the black part of the candle. This is the traditional way to use the Green and Black Glass Reversible Candle. The spell I wrote and posted recently,Green and Black Candle Spells for Ranishing Debt is my “twist” on bringing in money (by burning the green first), then banishing the bill (by using said money on bill, which is placed under candle).

My intention (which is a big part of candle burning spells) is INTENTION, and that is to get rid of a bill. You may use this with a creditor or debt collector. This is not intended to send them away to leave you be, but to address the inflow of money to attach specifically to this bill. This is why I do it the last three days of the waxing Moon (meaning getting larger), so that it will bring in that last bit of money magic of working with the Moon so that I can immediately send OUT the payment on the bill. Does this get rid of the bill? No, only by you paying it off, it will get rid of any bills or debts that are overdue.

The Full Moon occurs on Wednesday, April 28, 2010 and It is time to light Reversible Candles to ‘send back’ or reverse situations or negativity that has come your way.

It is highly recommended that you get the “black on red” candles (pictured here) as they are considered more effective and the ‘correct’ candle to use. Many times you see in candle shops and botanicas the red wax on the top part of the candle and the black wax on bottom. This is not a good candle to use. Always use a “black on red” reversible candle.

The “black on red” candle is the desired Reversible candle to use because the black wax represents the negativity and evil that has been lurking in your shadows and following you and the red symbolizes the “fast luck” energy of getting rid of that negativity and sending it back with a boot kick. You wouldn’t want to burn off all your energy and THEN deal with the negative stuff, right?

The candle pictured here is a Reversible Candle burning spell I did for a client experiencing problems at work. After the candle was finished, I took the petition paper and rolled torn up bits of paper in black candle wax, making little “B.B.’s” that can be scattered around the offending co-worker’s desk and outside near the person’s car, where they will step on them and grind the wax (and petition paper) into their grooves of their shoe, thus carrying the spell around with them.

I’m too a little confused about the right candles to buy. but I try to do my best. My reversible candles have a real big flame, and throws black smoke. Should I worry?

Smoke and Flame Divination is part of candle burning. The antics of the flame and the intensity of the smoke is a good indicator of how your candle burning spell is going.

For instance, you say that your flame is real big, that is good, but there are other factors to consider. Is the flame wavering back and forth? At what speed (fast or slow) is the waving? If your flame is wavering slowly, this is the most auspicious flame to have during a candle spell. It is steady and unrelenting; a champion in your service and that you should consider it a positive sign that things are going in your favor.

If the flame was waving back and forth wildly, I would consider that it was in ‘active battle’ with the forces against you but its height indicates that it is like a huge Guardian Angel doing battle for you.

If the flame is low, like it is almost going to go out, them it could mean two things. First, let’s take care of the physical; maybe you have too much oil in the candle. That is not a spiritual based answer, but sometimes it is true physics; you are ‘drowning’ the candle. If this is not the case (and you can tell by looking in the ‘well’ were to liquid wax and oil mingle), then the low flame means that the low flame is working against some heavy negativity and you can ‘help’ the other candle out by anointing a second white 7 day novena type candle in glass with some Blessing Oil or Protection Oil. You will find that shortly after yo do so, the first candle will gain in strength and height, ready to ‘get to work’ for you.

In regards to smoke, again we have to rule out the physical – how much oil is in that ‘well’ of wax in the center of the candle? If you didn’t put too much oil in the candle, AND that the wick did not move over to the side of the candle glass, then you are burning off negativity. Just open a window for a little ventilation and say a prayer over the candle, asking that it is fearless in the face of negativity and to send all evil intentions back to where it came from.

NOTE: This is a good time to bring up Candle Burning Safety. Please always make sure nothing is hanging over the altar or candle while it is burning. I have seen flames as large as 6 inches from the melted wax, and this can become a fire hazard. Also, go to the dollar store and buy some cereal bowls or large saucers to set your candles on while you burn them.

True story. Two weeks ago, I was burning the last of the Prosperity Experiment clients’ candles and they had been lit for a few days. On the second to the last morning of the candle spell, I was upstairs typing just like I am now, and I got a strong whiff of burnt candle wax. I stopped typing and said to myself  ‘I hope the candle glass doesn’t break’  then POP – the glass candle downstairs HAD cracked. I heard it and ran downstairs, only to see one candle had started leeching hot wax onto the plate. Had I not had a plate under the candle and if I had been away from home, I would have burned up the house.

Word to the wise – don’t underestimate the dangers of candle burning.

I was wondering what color of candle would be appropriate to light when I go on Jan 26 to do a test for dispatch operator for the police dept. and what kind of spell/oils you recommend and how soon should I start on the ritual and if the moon is in a good phase. First, let me say congratulations on the job opportunity and your decisiveness to have an exciting and fulfilling career. You go, girl!

I would use the Crown of Success products or Crown of Glory products to bathe in, anoint with, and burn before your examination – along with some good coffee and hours hitting the books. Since time is short, you may have to do a little “wiggling and squiggling” to get your oils and such, but here is a basic “shopping list” of items to use:

(NOTE: You may use these same three candles for both potential employment situations)

1 White Glass 7 -Day Novena Candle – your full name an birth date on piece of white paper placed under this candle.

1 Yellow Glass 7-day Novena Candle – name of agency and job title on piece of white paper under this candle.

1 Red Glass 7-day Novena Candle – petition of power for achievement of goal to gain selection in this position on white piece of paper under candle.

“Crown of Success” or “Crown of Glory” Anointing Oil, Bath Crystals and Sachet Powder – to use on in candles, on body and petition papers.

HOWEVER…

if you CANNOT find these products in town, then substitute with:

For Bath Crystals: Mix Epsom Salt and Kosher Salt with Grains of Paradise (aka Guinea Pepper), Master Root (or Masterwort) (will be hard to find) and a Buckeye to carry in your pocket. My might try a Health Foods Store for these herbs.

If these things cannot be found, take lots of Epsom Salts (WalMart or Walgreens) soaks followed by a soaping and showering off negative residue.

For Candles: In the event you cannot find “Crown of Success” or “Crowning Glory” products, take some Olive Oil in a small saucer and extend your hands over it and pray to blessing and infuse your intentions into the oil. Use this oil in your candles. Remember to clean your candles following the instructions on candle cleaning in my “Proper Candle Preparation” column on the right.

For Sachet Powder: Since time is short, you may have to forgo this product.

P.S. Walgreen’s ALWAYS has red, yellow and white candles, as so some of your area supermarkets in the Latino or Hispanic Foods section. For the half green/half black and the half white/half black free standing candles – we are all hurting because the factory where these are coming out of is relocating and didn’t make enough back stock to keep us in candles. I was just talking with someone about this just yesterday! I am actually in negotiations with a candle maker who may be supplying me with a line very soon. I will keep all of you posted on the outcomes since we are in quality control right now – can’t sell faulty stuff!

What is It?

I created a ritual for New Year’s Eve night to send off in a fiery pyre all the negative things, people and thoughts that plagued my clients throughout the year. I invite you to join us for this ritual.

Releasing of old negative thoughts, hurts, jealousies, anger and problems that have plagued your thoughts and home life is purging and mood elevating, and can break free things that have been keeping you down and unable to progress forward.

How Can I Participate?

There are two ways you can participate. First, you can purchase a tea light vigil candle for $1.25 each and submit your petition for that candle. Quantity is unlimited and if you live with others, it might be a grand release of negativity for everyone in the home to have a candle and petition paper burnt for them (see photo below). The petitions will go into the “coffin” along with the black poppets, mixed with frankincense, myrrh, white sage and lavender, to become a burnt offering to the Heavens (see more photos at link below)

The second way to participate is to purchase a black “doll baby” or “poppet” and name it for someone who is giving you the Devil or you would just want them to Go Away and Stay Away. These voodoo dolls are then “named” and stuffed with Spanish Moss and a few other herbs and ingredients to be effective in getting this person out of your life. These black dolls can be your for $20.00 each. Once you have ordered your poppet, you will then be asked to give a small description of the intended person and what you would like them to receive in exchange for doing damage they have done to you.

Tina, first reflect upon the situation. What is it that they do that invades your life? Noise? Fights? Music? Kids? Ugly looks in the hallway? Then look at yourself. Have you been a good neighbor yourself? have you introduced yourself to them? Have you gone over and asked them to turn down the music, stop stealing your newspaper or quit drinking and beating up your wife personally? Sometimes, just the fact that you KNOW it is going on, scares them into “being good”.  Have you turned up your stereo when theirs was loud? Have you clomped around in army boots on their ceiling? Like attracts like, and this is not way to act if you want good neighbors.

Second step, have you contacted the landlord? Keeping a journal of dates and times of occurrences can not only help your landlord but also keeping a record/making copies of complaint letters to the landlord can also help YOU if you so choose to move without penalty of deposit withholding.

OK, so getting all the non-magical items out of the way, you now need to get some blessed salt from the local Catholic Church, or if you cannot get it, make your own. It is east to do. First, get some holy water from the Church and go to the store and buy a white glass 7 – day “novena” candle and box of Kosher Salt. Why Kosher Salt? Because it has been prayed over by the Rabbi, therefore it is spiritually “clean” and “holy”. Then, get a large clear glass bowl, pour the salt box into it, clean the candle with lemon juice (see past blog posts here at free-candle-spells) and set the candle in the center of the bowl, on the salt. Sprinkle the holy water – NOT TOO MUCH - over the salt, light the candle, pray that God, the Guardian Angles and  Saints bless this salt for its’ intended protective use.  Set it aside until the candle burns out – about 5 to 7 days.

When done, dissolve some of this salt in water and wash down your door, door handle, door knob and all the outside of your place, including your walkway, steps, porch and all other areas leading up to your door.

Then, get a reversible candle (see past blog posts here at free-candle-spells) and burn in your home on a piece of paper that you have written your neighbors’ names, prayiing that all their evil intent return to them. make sure you clean the candle with lemon juice.

If all else fails, sprinkle asafoetida, an East Indian herb, around their doorstep, car, shoes (if they keep them outside) and curse them all the way, telling them to “LEAVE” and “MOVE OUT”. The herb is quite….well, smelly and you can’t get it out.

PERSONAL NOTE: Years ago, my eldest daughter made a complaint to me about her neighbors. She claimed it was ‘all their fault’, and that they were hostile and cruel. I told her to sprinkle some asafoetida in their air conditioning vent (window mount model), and when it gets hot (it was summer), they will turn on the air, spraying the whole house with the herb. I warned her that she must be absolutely innocent of any wrongdoing or this will backfire on her.

Well….it did, because my daughter was being a bad neighbor back and the neighbors beat her to the punch and had ALREADY complained to the landlord even BEFORE she sprinkled the asafoetida. She received a 30 day quit and move notice, and had to do so.  I told her so, and later she DID admit she was a bit naughty to them as well. What goes around, comes around!

Misunderstandings are par for the course and making sure you reiterate every spoken agreement as you will find that people are not hearing what you are saying. Crossing you “t’s” and dotting your “i’s” is de rigeur. If you are in legal court proceedings, you may find that the other party asks for a continuance or doesn’t show up at all!

What is a Mercury retrograde? If you are of the planetary type, a simple explanation is that all the planets seem to “march” across the sky. When a planet goes”retrograde” it would appear in your telescope to move backwards from the forward progression it was making previously. Since Mercury is the planet of communication, the blame for so much confusion falls on its’ shoulders.

From a metaphysical perspective, these three times in the year when Mercury is retrograde is to rebalance or regulate what is going on. The big Dow Stock Exchange in the Fall of 2008 came during a Mercury retrograde in Libra, whose symbols is the Scales. Interesting, don’t you think? The retrograde times is to reflect, rethink and re-adjust. It helps us step back and watch the football game from the sidelines to get a better perspective of the whole game and its’ many moving parts. Things will fall in place when it is time for them to and it also helps us make clear decisions of what we really want in life.

Years ago, I was delivering flowers in one of my many job incarnations, and in late January and early February, the rule of thumb is to prepare for Valentine’s Day. Well, along comes about that time a Mercury retrograde, of which I announced to the assembled designers, manager and boss, and within a couple of days, the wire transfer system, FTD, had “gone down” and couldn’t be connected to our computer. More importantly, the golden winged dude carrying the flowers as a trademark of FTD is the winged god Mercury, and the message transport system is dubbed “the Mercury’ or “Merc” for short! Needless to say, the boss told me to never let him know when there is another Mercury retrograde after he got the system reconnected to his computers right before February 14th.

Because we as humans expect things to run in a straight line for us, when Mercury goes retrograde, we get upset and short tempered with people because of this could of confusion that seems to be permeating everywhere. The easiest way to deal with life during Mercury retrograde times is just know that something, somewhere is bound to go haywire and even if you fix the problem, expect to revisit the issue again once the planet is moving forward again. HINT: Do no, I mean, DO NOT get any car repairs done during a Mercury retrograde. You might get the wrong sized tires put on your car (like me once), or the mechanic will have to “re-do” the work – and you pay twice! Whatever you do – DO NOT sign contracts, buy cars, appliances, upgrade your software, break up with your mate, or conquer a country – you’ll have egg on your face and have a “re-do” to make up.

Purchase a 2009 Farmers’ Almanac or a Year-at-a-Glace Astrology book and mark the Mercury retrograde times for next year. Then you will be a half step of the game when it comes around and you’ll be spending that time to reflect on your future as the computer is on the fritz and the checks get lost. You can just say in a la-ti-da tone of voice, “Of course the check’s in the mail! Mercury is handling it all!”
